Famitsu’s console predictions for 2007

With the year just starting up, let’s take a short break from the CES news, and drop over to Japan’s gaming scene.

Famitsu magazine has recently concluded another of their famed surveys, upon which their prediction for this year will be based.

First up are their results for the question, “What piece of hardware or software do you think will be the break away hit of 2007?”

1. Nintendo Wii (412)
2. Dragon Quest IX for NDS (122)
3. Nintendo DS (107)
4. Playstation 3 (56)
5. “I can’t predict.” (50)

In connection to this, they followed up with this question: “Which system do you think will sell the best in 2007?” Here were the results:

1. Nintendo DS (432)
2. Nintendo Wii (326)
3. Playstation 3 (116)
4. Xbox 360 (26)
5. “I can’t predict” (15)

You might notice that “I can’t predict” pops up quite frequently, and actually topped out in the PSP games. Just to be fair, it also listed as a second on the Wii and 360, which would indicate a “wait and see” mindset for the guys who took this survey.
