Famitsu’s “worst PS3 game ever”: Mist of Chaos. Ouch.

Mist of Chaos: failed. The agony... whhhhyyyyyy? - Image 1Normally other people’s reviews are, well, other people’s reviews (and their business), but sometimes a little commentary can’t be helped. Sometimes reviews are controversial. Sometimes, they’re unexpected. And sometimes, the first cut is always the deepest.

Take this one, for example. A Livedoor blogger posted up the Famitsu review for Idea Factory‘s Mist of Chaos. They scored Mist a (relatively) harsh 4, 3, 4, 5 (16/40). Quotes from the review commentary, although a little help on the translation would be much appreciated:

  • Story: Both system and story are hard to understand.
  • It’s not looking good either, so why PS3?
  • Entire unkindness
  • When the picture is small, you cannot read either letter
  • Players may feel like ‘left alone’ by the storyline.
  • Information is unclear
  • You can’t get into it.

Seoulfood (Unregistered), your little prophecy was self-fulfilling: “If this game is going to be anything like Generation of Chaos, then it will be a very pretty game but, impossible to figure out.”

Tactical RPG is a good genre, dang it. Haven’t had the chance to play the game yet, and absolutely hate to sound downish, but why the disappointment? Who slipped? There is so much promise to fulfill, but the challenge really lies in fulfilling them.

Thanks to w0rmho1e for the translation.
