Fast and steady rise for Second Life

With a teeming economy, not to mention each aspect falling to their rightful places, Linden Lab‘s MMO is already home to to over a million residents. The moment a virtual world reaches this number of subscribers, making news and noise on the real world is already a given.

Internet metrics company Hitwise reported that the traffic for Second Life grew an astonishing 219% for the week ending October 21 as compared to the same period last year. Also, Hitwise said that internet searches for “second life” increased 73% for the above mentioned week. Participating and interested groups are of 45 years old and below.

Take note that while traffic doesn’t translate to membership, the conducted study proves that word is finally getting out for Second Life. Apparently, like the study also implies, visitors keep on coming back to the virtual world as the game allows them to trade its currency for real estate, not to mention make friends, take classes and hold business meetings.
