FFXIII PS3 audio and video uncompressed, not so on Xbox 360
After months of saying that the game’s Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will be “pretty much the same” Square Enix has owned up to one difference that might sway hardcore technophiles who are still on the fence about which version of Final Fantasy XIII to get.
After months of saying that the game’s Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will be “pretty much the same” Square Enix has owned up to one difference that might sway hardcore technophiles who are still on the fence about which version of Final Fantasy XIII to get.
In a Famitsu interview, Square Enix revealed that the Xbox 360 version will have compressed audio and video despite shipping on multiple discs. The PS3 version, on the other hand, will be fully uncompressed thanks to the space afforded them by a dual-layer Blu-ray disc.
If you’re the kind of gamer who puts every game he has through a magnifying glass, then the PS3 version is porbably the one you’d want. Provided you have the console of course. More casual gamers probably won’t even notice the difference as producer Yoshinori Kitase said before that differences due to hardware will be “subtle.”
Final Fantasy XIII will get a simultaneous PS3 and Xbox 360 release in North America and Europe on March 9, 2010.
