Fifth apps 18 designer beta removes photos from the Carousel.
Photos in iOS 18 no longer have a carousel.
Apple’s fifth beta developer version of iOS 18 made some changes to its Photos app. One change was the removal of the Carousel View. iOS 18’s revamped Photos app was designed to make image searching easier. Apple has made some changes in the latest iOS 18 beta to what was previously a solid set of improvements. Apple has removed the Carousel View from the interface in the fifth developer beta. Carousel was a feature that allowed users to swipe the main grid in order to view content selected by the onboard algorithms. This is not available at the moment. Carousel may or may not return before the public release. The All Photos view was also updated to display more of the grid. Users with a large number of albums will also see them positioned higher in the interface, making it easier to locate. The Recent Days column, which displays photos and videos from recent days, now also shows recently saved content. The changes are the result of a large amount of feedback received from beta users. The changes have been met with a variety of complaints, including that the single-viewpoint app made it difficult for users to access the elements they use frequently. The Photos app refinements are only available in the fifth developer betas for the fall operating system release. The changes are only available in the first developer beta track, so iOS 18.0 users will see them, but iOS 18.1 users won’t, until Apple adds them to a later build.
