Final Fantasy 13 not officially confirmed for 2008 release
Communication is an art, although it’s an imperfect one; sometimes what one thinks is being said isn’t exactly what is really being communicated in the first place. That appears to be the case with the supposed 2008 release date of Square Enix‘s Final Fantasy 13 which was apparently the result of a misunderstanding. The full article clears things up, right after the jump.
With all the latest buzz regarding Final Fantasy 13, the idea of a 2008 release for Square Enix‘s upcoming PlayStation 3 RPG somehow got etched onto people’s minds. While, admittedly, there’s some new stuff coming out in relation to the game, it hasn’t been officially confirmed as of this time that Square Enix will release the game this year.
To clear matters up, Final Fantasy 13 director Motomu Toriyama said that he hopes to show fans a demo of the game this year. Toriyama also stated that more details regarding Final Fantasy 13 and Final Fantasy Versus 13 will be released later in the year. Nothing was actually said about an official 2008 release date.
This doesn’t mean, however, that Final Fantasy 13‘s will be released in 2009 or beyond, as Square Enix may decide to ship the finished product to fans this year. Nevertheless, until we get official word on the matter, the waiting game will continue.
