Final Fantasy III – Official Screens
The third installment of the much loved Final Fantasy series was one of the games that Square Enix (then Squaresoft) never released in North America. The Final Fantasy III that North American audiences experienced was actually the sixth Final Fantasy, but all you guys probably knew that already.
Final Fantasy III was special to a whole lot of fans because it was the first to feature the job-change system, which you’ve probably experienced while playing Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Advance. The plot of the FFIII involved four orphaned youths who come across a crystal of light that grants them a portion of its power, and instructs them to go forth and restore balance to the world.
It’s heartening to know that this DS remake of the game not only has all of the beloved features of the original, but also has brand-spankin-new graphics that while all nice and 3D, still has that FF3 feel. There are also a few extra tweaks, for example, the four main characters now have default names instead of just being nameless generics, “Luneth” does have a nice ring to it. The job system has also undergone an update. The starting job is now the “Freelancer” class, and Onion Knight got a class all to its own.
The game takes advantage of the DS touch screen, allowing you to use the stylus to move through menus with ease. It also uses the DS Wi-Fi feature to access the “Mognet” (hehe, MOgs…) and communicate with other players, NPCs, and unlock hidden dungeons, quests and items.
It’s set to be released in the US on November 14 2006. We’ve shown you screens of it before, but those were mostly taken by camera. Take a few seconds to check out the pics below… see, shots of it while being played!
More screenshots after the jump.

If these aren’t enough for you, I think we’ve found some videos of the game some time ago.
