Final Fantasy XIII info off the Famitsu scans

These make sense now - Image 1If only we could read Japanese then the language barrier would not have delayed the info and we could’ve gotten them sooner. Final Fantasy XIII on Famitsu - Image 1 If only we could read Japanese then the language barrier would not have delayed the info and we could’ve gotten them sooner. Caught the Famitsu scans for Final Fantasy XIII (Xbox 360, PS3) we posted yesterday? Now we know what those Japanese text walls have been trying to tell us.

On the hot seat in an interview with Famitsu is the Square Enix duo of Motomu Toriyama and Tetsuya Nomura spilling the new goods on the game. For one, Toriyama confirms that Final Fantasy XIII won’t be coming with mandatory installations so you wouldn’t have to watch Old Snake take a cigarette break every chapter like you did in MGS4.

Concerned about the loading time? Fear not. The development team really put emphasis on that early on to make sure that the loading won’t spoil you playing momentum. Toriyama-san says that the only times you’d be treated to a loading break is when you move from town to field.

Moving on to new girl, Oerba Yun Fang, Nomura-san revealed that she was originally planned to be a guy (So maybe that’s why she reminded you of Jecht, T-Max Blaze). Eventually, they decided to go with a tough but attractive female, so now we have Oerba. As for Sazh, Nomura originally wanted him to don an outlandish hat – yes, on top of that bad-ass ‘fro and the Chocobo chick living in it.

There were also hints from Toriyama about a returning Final Fantasy character. Don’t go overboard with the speculations, it’s just good ol’ Cid, still winning the Final Fantasy Attendance Award. Unfortunately, they didn’t say if Cid will be playable like he was in VII (I would love if he still came with the language and attitude), a villain like in XII, or just a friendly old chap like in Final Fantasy VIII.

If there’s anyone who know that first hand before we do – it’s the lucky folks in Japan, bracing themselves for December 17th.
