Finally, a boss fight: Petey Piranha as a boss in Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Much has been said about the single-player mode of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the Subspace Emissary, and in this Brawl update, we get you intimately-acquainted with one of the bosses you’re pretty much going to have to plow through to progress forward. It’s the plumber-chomping, pipe-surfing walking giant of a plant we all know and love: Petey Piranha!
While we’ve seen Petey in many different forms from the game he’s appeared in, it’s in Super Smash Bros. Brawl that he looks the most imposing: not only is he super-sized, but he’s also carrying two of Nintendo’s most beloved princesses in an iron grip. Those two princesses are Zelda and Peach, both locked in cages that Petey himself will be using to pummel you into submission.
What’s a bit disturbing about this update is that as a player, you’ll be forced to choose between Peach and Zelda – as you can only rescue one of them. This is achieved by damaging the cage of that particular princess you’ve chosen enough so that it smashes into pieces (and hopefully defeating Petey in the process). What happens to the unrescued Princess? We don’t know, but we certainly hope we’ll be given another chance to rescue her.
Truly a very striking update for Super Smash Bros. Brawl indeed. Updates as we get them!
