Finally, Nintendo says something about controller compatibilities

Okay, so this is what Nintendo says.

You’d think between CVG’s inty with Ninty and Infendo’s analysis we’ve gotten what we need to know about Nintendo controller compatibilities with Virtual Console games. Until Nintendo updated their Wii site with new info on the Virtual Console to include their own chart on controller compatibilities.

And now it seems we have to make a few updates. Sorry for the earlier confusion.

Anyway, the big change comes from the non-Ninty games: Sega Genesis and TurboGrafx-16 games. In the Infendo chart, it was shown that the GameCube controller would work with these games, but no info for the Wiimote yet. Nintendo’s chart shows that the Wiimote will work for some Genesis games and all TurboGrafx-16 titles, and that the Classic Controller will work with both just fine, but they’re not sure if the GameCube controller will work with either.

Everything else is, so far, as it was with Infendo: The Wiimote will work with NES games, but past the 8-bit, you’ve got to break the Classic Controller out. We’re just wondering if Ninty will later update the “Undetermined” boxes with something more definite.
