Finally Part One: MotorStorm thunders into North America
Taken long enough, for those who either played the demo, played the kiosks, or played the Japanese version. Evolution Studios and Sony announce the release of MotorStorm in North America, this time complete with 12-player online multiplayer. Driving etiquette has gone out the window in favor of mass vehicular carnage.
In its Japanese release MotorStorm garnered the kind of impressive sales one would expect from a video game like, say, Gundam Musou. Those here in QJ who’ve played the downloadable demo… are still playing the MotorStorm demo (well, no longer, perhaps, now that boxed retail is available).
This actually brings up a good question, one posed not too long ago. Now that North American players can not only get their heads into the MotorStorm game, but get their heads into the game online, does this leave Japanese gamers isolated and stuck in an offline rut? We hope not – we would love to see full-on transoceanic online battles, with the taunting and swearing in both Japanese and English (and later on in French, German, Spanish… you get our drift).
Perhaps a downloadable update for Japanese versions of MotorStorm will offer the capability in the Land of the Rising Sun. Hopefully Evolution or Sony will make an announcement on this soon.
You will notice that we said “Finally Part One.” Part Two comes when MotorStorm gets its PAL release with the Euro launch. Then the circle is complete, indeed.
