Firmware matters in Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters

Ratchet and Clank beta kit UMD

A little less than a month after the sign-ups for the beta testing of Sony‘s Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters were widely distributed across the web, some lucky people who got picked are already receiving their copies of the beta UMD. Like Rai from the e-mpire forums… He’s been kind enough to post scanned images of his little treasure.

Here’s a bit of a news flash, kids. Beta as it may be, it requires firmware 2.81 running on your handheld. Yup. Now the title should be Ratchet & Clank: Firmware Matters. [insert collective sigh] Yet another game to chalk up onto the list of 2.81-requiring games. However, taking from the on-going discussions of GTA: Vice City Stories “requiring” 2.81, we do know that Size Matters will still be playable on 2.71.

Anyways, for those who don’t have the UMD beta kit (whether you’re still waiting for it, or you weren’t picked in the lottery), here’s the note that came with the release. It contains instructions on how to function the online portion of the game, and the control settings. Click the pics to enlarge!
