And just when you thought that the era of single-disc games is here to stay, along comes a Japanese game that is apparently not enough for just one UMD. That’s right folks, a dual UMD disc has finally been announced, and it’s no other than the latest installment to the Legend of Heroes RPG series, Eiyuu Densetsu Sora no Kiseki SC (a.k.a. Legend of Heroes: Miracle of the Sky, Second Chapter).

As announced by the title’s creator, Nihon Falcom Corporation, Eiyuu Densetsu Sora no Kiseki SC is set to be released on September 27 of this year, and will be making use of two UMDs instead of the usual one. As of yet, there is still no mention on why exactly they ended up needing two discs. Of course there’s always the possibility that the game isn’t THAT large that it needs both of the discs, as there’s always the chance that the second disc will contain extra goodies like movies, galleries, artwork, etc. But then again, until official word comes out, who knows?

For those who may not be familiar with the Legend of Heroes series, it is one of the few console games that Nihon Falcom has ever created, as the company primarily focuses on developing RPGs for the PC. Because of this, Eiyuu Densetsu Sora no Kiseki SC also has a PC version for those who prefer playing on their desktops.

As we wait for more news about this game, here are some screenshots from both the PSP and the PC version of the game, as well as a short demo movie that was taken from the game’s official site.
