First Express Card Solution for Desktops
Well before most laptops even come furnished with PCMCIA express card slots, a Japanese firm has released a low profile add-in board with an express 54 slot and a USB port as well.
While an express slot is far from a necessity on a desktop, having one can give you almost limitless possibilities. From storage space to a connectivity device, express slots can give you a variety of options without taking up a lot of space or demanding too much power.
Currently, there are only 21 different express card products on the market and only one of them is compatible with the Mac. Unfortunately, this company is only selling a PC version of this express slot add-in, so Mac owners will have to wait a bit longer for a desktop compatible express slot solution.
Kuroutoshikou is now offering the express slot add- in (Japan only) for a mere $43 USD. At that price, importing it now is not out of the question for those who can’t wait for something similar to come out in the US.
