First Nintendo DS Lite Review In!

As the majority of the West looks on enviously at Japan, where Nintendo’s DS Lite is already out, the editors at CNet have put up the first review of this eagerly-awaited new gadget.

CNet likes how the DS Lite is much more streamlined than the DS and is definitely better looking than its predecessor. That nothing is sacrificed in the update is definitely a plus. The awesome exclusive games and the ability to play GBA games on a higher resolution screen were definitely good points. The easy to use WiFi gameplay was a great factor as well.

What didn’t they like? Well, they didn’t like how easy it was to smudge (similar to PSPs and iPods). They would also have liked it to launch with the Play Yan or some other media device so it wasn’t just all about gaming. Another point they make is how most third-party developers haven’t yet made games comparable to Nintendo’s in terms of quality.

Overall, CNet calls it an impressive improvement and awards the system an 8.0 – “Excellent” in their book. As soon as the DS Lite receives a North American price and date, we will report on it. So stay tuned to QJ.net!
