Flyboys Squadron launches November 16

<I got a bandit on my six!><Shut up and die like an aviator.>

Well, the movie was critically panned, and it didn’t exactly top the charts, not in those WWI-era biplanes, anyway. But at least “Flyboys”, the movie that dramatizes the lives of the all-American World War I French volunteer squadron, the Lafayette Escadrille, appealed to the flyboys at heart: those who strap on their Microsoft Flight Simulators, or Lock-ons, or Ace Combats, and launch themselves into that wide blue sky.

(Hey, this writer can admit he liked the movie. And I strap on my Flight Sim or Ace Combat Zero two hours every day).

With iEntertainment Network, dogfighters will be able to fly with the Escadrille in Flyboys Squadron, the game adaptation of the movie. All the dogfighting done in the movie (except for the ending – I’m not going to spoil it, but it seems like James Franco had Spidey-sense there), as well as all the battlefields will be faithfully recreated in the game. They will likely pull it off – iEntertainment is also responsible for the WarBirds TotalSims series.

Take off to twelve missions in four different skill levels. Thrown in for good measure are 25 Instant Action missions, three secret missions, as well as downloadable new missions that iEntertainment will provide over the next year. And as a final bonus, Flyboys Squadron will lift off with two massively multiplayer shooter games – World War II aerial combat in WarBirds 2006 and tank warfare in Armored Assault.

Below are screenshots from the game. Flyboys Squadron takes off November 16. No Maverick singing “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” this time.
