Forget petitions, just buy the game: Dissidia sequel possible with high sales

Dissidia: Final FantasyBack in January, Square Enix‘s very own Tetsuya Nomura revealed that plans for a sequel to Dissidia: Final Fantasy were actually already in place, but eventually fell through the cracks. However, to spark a bit of hope, he also mentioned that if fans demanded it enough, Dissidia II might really happen in the future. Back then, I suggested we do a petition for it, now though, it looks like Square Enix will be listening to fans in terms of actual software sales.

Of course, sales in Japan are already raking in some staggering numbers. And in an interview with Dissidia director Takeshi Arakawa, we learn that western sales will also be a big factor for any prospect of a sequel.

Obviously the game hasnÂ’t been released in either the US or Europe and we will have to wait and see how popular it will be. If itÂ’s successful obviously weÂ’d like to make an attempt to make a sequel.

Of course, operative work here is “attempt.” Attempting to make a sequel is one thing – let’s just hope it doesn’t fall through the cracks again, if ever they do push through with their plans of a second part.

Well, whatever the case, sequel or none, there is one implied lesson here: don’t pirate, buy the game!
