Former EA Canada employees create Jet Black Studios
Industry veterans formerly of Electronic Arts have joined together to create Jet Black Studios. According to our source, the newly formed game development studios will specialize in Wii and DS titles.
The founders are indeed veterans of the industry with two generations of consoles worth of experience. Jet Black Studios is set to focus on original intellectual properties (IP) for the Nintendo console and handheld. Roger Freddi, co-founder and CEO of Jet Black Studios had this to say:
With the launch of our new studio weÃve brought together all the key elements to develop top games: proven experience and talent, the desire to push the creative envelope, commitment to making games we ourselves want to play, and all the resources and support systems needed to perform.
The new studio has made a partnership with Flashman Studios Inc, a business management firm that specializes in interactive entertainment. The partnership places Jet Black in a good position to develop games for Nintendo’s innovative platforms. Flashman Studios’ existing IPs will also serve to complement the IPs that Jet Black is working on. The CEO of Flashman, Brad Young commented:
We are confident in the capabilities of Jet BlackÃs exceptional team, and know our strong global alliances and years of game experience will help grow their business. Our proven success in cultivating the right match of intellectual property, publisher, and developer will allow Jet Black to do what they do best – build great games, create inspirational ideas, and develop great technology.
We’ll see in the long run how this new studio will do in the future. Flashman Studios’ current games in the works are Mushroom Men from Gamecock, Rocketmen and Happy Tree Friends.
