Foxconn cramming phone 16 production traces with 50, 000 new employees

Foxconn is on a hiring frenzy, adding 50,000 workers to its largest iPhone facility in China. This is all part of the preparations for the iPhone 16 release. Apple’s global supply chains are in action as the release date of the new iPhone generation approaches. According to a report on Friday, everything seems to be running according schedule. Business Korea, citing Chinese media reports, states that Foxconn’s assembly partner has hired around 50,000 new employees. They are employed in Zhengzhou, China, the largest production base of iPhones in the entire world. The report indicates that production of the iPhone 16 is on schedule. Foxconn usually increases its employee base in the middle summer. This happened on June 28, 2023 for the iPhone 15 models. Foxconn usually uses local recruiting agencies to quickly shore up its production line. Foxconn’s busy season is the production of iPhones, which begins in August. This requires thousands of permanent and temp employees to be hired. Foxconn advertised recruitment ads in late-July, offering a wage increase of up to 25 Yuan ($3.49) per hour. The factory also increased its hiring bonus from 6,000 yuan (836) in July, to 7,500 yuan (1,046) in August. Foxconn’s mass hiring comes as reports suggest that production of the iPhone 16 Pro model could begin in India in 2024. Apple is looking to diversify its supply chain away from China, and India is slowly becoming a part of that.
