French Nintendo Magazine Editors List Their Dream Characters

This isn’t particularly newsworthy, but this is Super Smash Bros. Brawl and any piece of information about it seems to get blown out of control. This is another one of those warning tidbits based from the following scan of a page of Official Nintendo Magazine for France. Since it’s in French, some people are misunderstanding it. We’ll translate bits of it and show why this should not be taken as fact.

SSBB Scan

The title says “The people of which one can dream.” which is a straight indication that these are merely wishes. The percentages are just educated guesses based upon information that ALL of us have access to as well as their own personal bias. For some reason, they still have Son Goku (or Goku as many of us know him) at 10% even though they acknowledged that Sakurai has said that no manga or anime characters would be in Brawl. Again, all the percentages are just their guesses. Nothing official.

Now, the sidebar is a compilation of their thoughts on how the roster might look. The first box titled “The 100% Sures” lists all the characters that Nintendo has announced themselves. The second box titled “The Regulars” lists all the characters that were in both games and that they feel are popular. Remember, it lists who THEY feel are popular – not Sakurai and not us. The third box titled “The Pets” lists characters that were introduced in Melee but they don’t believe Nintendo will get rid of. Again, who THEY think Nintendo will not get rid of. Nintendo has already confirmed they’re getting rid of a few characters, and this magazine is merely making a few guesses.

On the bottom of the second page, you’ll see that it says “Vote!” This is them asking their readers to submit their Top 5 characters they want for Brawl. Readers can also make their own movesets for characters that they want to see in the game. The condition is that they should at least have appeared on a Nintendo system before. This is not for suggestions for the game, it’s just a fun thing they’re doing like Nintendo Power‘s old monthly subjects for “Player’s Pulse.”

That’s all there is of note on the page. I guess French 12 really did come in handy in the end… I should thank my French teacher some time!
