Friend Codes Made Easy With Wii – Single Code
In a recent episode of IGN Weekly, Matt Casamassina took us (the audience) through a quick overview of the Wii interface (OS), from the disc loading to the friend code system. The last part, the friend code system has brought us to the answer we have been waiting for, how the Wii will manage online play via friends/buddies.
For those who are not too familiar with the friend code system, it will (in the Wii), operate as your console’s online identification, much like your gamertag with Xbox Live.
You will still be able to give your console a nickname (much like the NDS and PSP) which may be utilized in online games for identification. Although a friend code may not be as easy to memorize as a gamertag in a sense, it is Nintendo’s method of securing their unique outlook and methods on the gaming industry.
With the Nintendo DS, each game is given a separate “Friend Code”, requiring each friend to enter a new code in the game for each friend they have that gets a new game that they have. It gets annoying at times, with tons of friend codes to manage, it just isn’t very practical. However, Matt Casamassina showed us the “Wii Console Code” which you can see a picture of on the left of this passage. However, you won’t be able to see the number format (blurred out), but you can rest peacefully tonight knowing that with the Wii, friend codes are no longer a hassle.
