The virus is spreading and Japan is about to be overrun by zombies…in a manner of speaking. The newly-launched Resident Evil 5 took the Japanese gaming scene by storm from March 2nd to the 8th. The PS3 version tops the chart, while the Xbox 360 version came in at third, selling nearly 400,000 copies combined.

Here’s the top ten in software sales by Enterbrain, which is almost identical to Media Create‘s list, with the exception of the 10th. Since this is in Japan, the games go by their Japanese monickers.:

  1. Biohazard 5 (PS3) – 320,000
  2. Seventh Dragon (DS) – 82,000
  3. Biohazard 5 (Xbox 360) – 79,000
  4. Shin Sangoku Musou: Multi Raid (PSP) – 68,000
  5. Ryu ga Gotoku 3 (PS3) – 57,000
  6. Mario and Luigi RPG 3 (DS) 43,000
  7. Aibou DS (DS) – 33,000
  8. Super Robot Taisen Z Special Disc – 29,000
  9. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (PSP The Best) (PSP) – 23,000
  10. Wii Fit (Wii) – 19,000

It’s also good to see that the Japanese are as crazy about Dynasty Warriors right now as I am, with Strikeforce remaining in the top ten at fourth.  And clearly, they still love Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (PSP The Best) – that title has been playing around the top 20 of the charts for months now.
