Following in the vein of innovative titles Nintendo promised to deliver through its WiiWare service, Frontier Developments has announced its first WiiWare title with LostWinds.

Playing on the concept of placing “the power of the wind in the palm of your hand,” LostWinds puts you in the role of Toku, a young boy who is the only hope for the world of Mistralis as he tries to release the curse placed on it by the evil Balasar. Using the power of Enril the wind spirit, the game’s intuitive mechanism allows you to use the Wiimote to guide and protect Toku as he jumps and glides through the different regions of Mistralis.

Frontier Developments’ David Braben had this to say regarding the development of this new and exciting title for the WiiWare service:

LostWinds is an innovative game, and an exciting project for many reasons. Not least the fact that it’s one of the large number of excellent concepts that have arisen through our long running internal forum discussions on game ideas. Frontier is packed full of talented game enthusiasts, and contributing creative ideas and feedback is actively encouraged.
