“Galactic Tales”: A Fan Fiction Writing Contest For Star Wars Galaxies

“Fan fiction” is a common genre. Whether or not they can be professionally published, characters from popular franchises like Star Trek, Indiana Jones and not a few MMO games inspire their devotees to make their own literary contributions to the legends. The Star Wars series of films and games have likewise brought out the storyteller in many a fan… so, in recognition of the talent frequently demonstrated, Sony Online Entertainment has announced the new Galactic Tales writing competition. This will be an ongoing, weekly competition with new entries due every Tuesday.

The rules are as follows:

• 500 words, max.  Any entries over 500 words will be disqualified
• Story entries must be based on the week’s stated theme
• One story per person per week
• Posts in the Galactic Tales Stories thread are restricted to one’s own story and comments on the same.  Violations may result in disqualification

Stories will be judged on spelling, grammar, story flow, character development, plot, and adherence to the week’s theme.
