Galaxy Player v0.1+: MP3 player, picture viewer, more

Homebrew developer UserXY dived into his first LUA project some time ago, which became Galaxy Player version 0.1 (not to be confused with the Galaxy portal). It was originally released in German, but UserXY also provided a French version soon after for Sony PSP owners. Unfortunately, it was to be Galaxy Player’s first and last release from the author.

Developer maxthebest picked up UserXY’s project and released an improved version of the app: Galaxy Player version 0.1+, in both US and French flavors.

Galaxy Player version 0.1 was a project of UserXY, a homebrew developer for the Sony PlayStation Portable from Switzerland, which never saw another revision. But when experienced LUA developer maxthebest took steps to create an English version of the MP3 player, picture viewer, and file manager homebrew application, the developer was able to patch up a few minor bug fixes and ended up with Galaxy Player version 0.1+.

Homebrew developer maxthebest also created an actual lotto number generator for the English and French versions – a feature which was only originally found on the German version. The application itself is still completely coded in LUA, thereby still being an original work by UserXY, but with a few touches from maxthebest.

Currently, the minor bug fixes still leave a lot of other program critters scampering about, and if you do decide to give this application a try, you need to know that it doesn’t include basic documentation. With that said, you can safely pop the Galaxy Player directories in your PSP’s GAME directory. The rest of its operation comes with brief help screens for first time use.
