Game Spot: Xbox 360 ripples up Wii site
It’s a no-brainer that advertising is a dog-eat-dog world. And while some sales pitches are just plain weird, we were beginning to wonder what one website had in mind when they posted this ad. Kind of reminds us of the old Pepsi vs. Coca-Cola days.
We were scoping out Game Spot for our daily dose of Wii news, when we noticed something didn’t quite fit in the Wii’s page: a Microsoft Xbox 360 ad that flooded the site’s background with its trademark apple-green swirls and accessories.
While multiple console ads like this are becoming commonplace, the layout’s a literal eye-sore: other guys have already reported on how painful the ad is on the eyes, with all those green ripples staring them in the face like some pseudo-psychedelic hypno-machine…good thing they’re not animated.
