GamesCom 2009 a success, welcomed 245,000 visitors
The recently wrapped-up GamesCom definitely heated up headlines the past few days, especially with the announcement of the price cut and the confirmation of the PS3 Slim. It wasn’t all about Sony though – exhibitors, trade visitors, and attendees alike were all happy with the event, which spanned from August 19-23. With 245,000 people all checking out the latest in gaming, who wouldn’t be?

The figure was announced earlier today by a very pleased German Association of Interactive Entertainment Software. 95% out of the 458 exhibitors at GamesCom reported that they were happy with the visitors they received, 92 trade visitors noted their GamesCom trips to be successful, while 90% confirmed that they’ll be coming back for next year, which will also take place in Cologne from August 18th to the 22nd in 2010.
Olaf Walters, managing director of the BIU, was happy to comment on the matter:
We are very proud of the premiere of gamescom. It fulfilled all our objectives right away and is the largest game trade fair in the world. Computer and video games are so attractive that our industry is breaking all records despite the economic crisis.
E3 was a success too:
