GameStop drops Xbox 360 product replacement plans

GameStop letter says no to Xbox 360 PRP - Image 1According to images of what seems to be the latest note GameStop sent out to its outlets, the giant retailer will no longer offer Product Replacement Plans to any Microsoft Xbox 360 purchases. It looks like hardware problems still plague the console, as Gamers Reports’ source says GameStop is losing too much money to continue the program.

The letter makes it clear that PRPs are not supposed to be given away anymore. Those still under the plan can still send in their consoles for replacements, while customers who in attend to get new Xbox 360 from GameStop only get the one year warranty from Microsoft.

On another note, the new 40GB Sony PlayStation 3 is well on its way for the scheduled November 2 release. Some retailers already have the boxes waiting to hit the shelves, and by the looks of it, GameStop will be prepared for the launch too.
