Planning to buy a PS3 or a Wii? You might have trouble finding one, if GameStop is to be believed. The retail giant’s Executive VP of Merchandising, Tony Bartel, says that PS3 and Wii stocks aren’t expected to go up in the next few months. The PS3 shortage, in particular, will go on for a bit longer.
“Obviously it’s a question we ask the platform holders constantly,” Bartel told IGN. “I can tell you that we do anticipate we will be in this situation, at least with the PlayStation 3, for another couple months unfortunately because we could sell a lot more hardware than what we have on both the PS3 and Wii platform.”
Bartel expects the Nintendo Wii, on the other hand, to come into stock quicker than Sony’s home console and that the shortage “should abate sometime before the next couple months”. Bartel explained that “unprecedented hardware demand in December” for the Wii has led to the console’s limited supply.
