Gaymer Survey results
Back in June of last year, we told you about this certain Gaymer Survey being conducted by Jason Rockwood. The experiment is actually the first academically approved research that explored the social and behavioral demographics of gay videogame players as well as the role of sexual orientation in gaming habits.
Anyway, we know you’re quite curious about the results and so we’ll give them to you now: 88% of the respondents claimed that they’ve heard the phrase “That’s so gay”, and 84% said that they’ve heard the word “gay” uttered in a derogatory manner.
More interestingly, over half of the total respondents said that most of the games portray gays in a stereotypical way while 42% believe that gays are under-represented in games.
Sadly, 52% believe that the gaming community, in general, is hostile to gay and lesbian gamers (only 9% said they never encountered anti-gay sentiments online).
The full results of the survey can be viewed via the Read link below. The Gaymer survey was answered by more than 10,000 online respondents from over 30 countries all over the world.
