GDC 08: parties, awards schedule
The Game Developers Conference is gearing up not only for conferences and lectures but parties as well. We know that these game developers play hard and party even harder. General events are lined up for the whole week. Find out more on the events after the jump!
With all the conferences and talks being given by different game developers, we must not forget about the parties and award ceremonies which are also highlights of this year’s GDC. As a matter of fact, parties are lined up for four straight days, starting on February 19, 2008.
For Tuesday, the IGDA party will be taking place. It’s a members-only event that has become one of the biggest parties at GDC. It will be held from 8:00 p.m. up to midnight at the Westin San Francisco on Market Street.
On Wednesday, four events will take shape for all the participants: the Choice Awards, the Independent Games festival Awards, Expo and Booth Crawl, and the Career Networking Bar which will continue on until Friday.
Do take note that the Expo and Booth Crawl will happen at 4:30 p.m. in the GDC Expo hall. It’s one floor show wherein developers can wander, play, and interact with tools that have become toys.
The Suite Night will be happening on Thursday. It’s where companies, both developers and tolls vendors, will be hosting a multitude of parties. To put it simply, it’s like a hotel party hopping event. It’s just that it’s going to take place in one hotel, the Westin hotel.
Finally, to cap things off on Friday, the Video Games Live Concert will happen. It’s one show that features orchestra playing different video game music accompanied by a giant screen playing montages of video game footages.
With all the things lined up for the GDC ’08, expect a lot of news to be released. As always, do count on us to give you the latest updates happening on this event.
