GDC 08: Valve confirms on no PS3 Left 4 Dead, in-house games for Wii
Valve corporation‘s Doug Lombardi has been able to shed new information that their company won’t be releasing Left 4 Dead (Xbox 360, PC) for Sony‘s console, PlayStation 3.
Furthermore, he added that if they wanted to make in-house games, they would definitely try for Nintendo’s Wii. Find out more after the jump!
In an interview with Videogaming247, Valve corporation‘s Doug Lombardi was able to talk about why they don’t have plans of releasing Left 4 Dead (Xbox 360, PC) for the Sony‘s Playstation 3. Apart from this, he also delved into why, if they wanted to make in-house games for another console, it would be Nintendo’s Wii platform.
Lombardi mentioned a few reasons on why they they won’t be releasing the game for the PlayStation 3. Although they were able to do it before, Lombardi said, “We were really crappy at bringing games to consoles.” Even if they moved up on simultaneously producing games for the Xbox 360 and PC, they had limited interest in developing for PlayStation 3.
With developing games both for consoles and the PC, Lombardi noted that if they were to developed in-house games for a console system, it would be Nintendo’s Wii. In fact, he said:
If Valve were to develop in-house for another format, it would be the Wii. ItÂ’s growing, thereÂ’s already a huge user-base, and itÂ’s fun. Source is really scaleable. We can do that.
