GDC 2007: EA and THQ recruiting
It seems that the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2007 is not just for listening to the gaming bigwigs talk. Publishers and developers who attended the conference were also in the lookout for fresh new talent to add to their roster of career people.
Electronic Arts disclosed that they’ve been looking for new blood to add to their team of developers. Nearly every position in 11 studios are to be opened to students waiting to launch their careers. Recruiters for EA revealed that the company is looking for character animators, environmental artists, and software engineers. The company also assists schools in training future game makers.
THQ was also recruiting at the GDC, for both developers and publishers to fit into 17 of their studios. Recruitment at the company happens quickly. A walk-in applicant who impresses the recruiter gets interviewed on the spot. Otherwise, THQ evaluates and contacts candidates within the next few months.
THQ advises candidates to pursue an internship in the development or publishing careers. They didn’t specify any school recommendations, but still prefer those with a high placement rate. Aspiring developers, take heed. There are lots of opportunities for you peeps to become the next game industry superstar.
