GDC 2007: more on Hoop World
Hoop World is a kung-fu style dodge ball game to be made available for the Xbox Live Arcade. At the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2007, Hoop World makers Virtual Toys and Streamline Studios showed newer, better screens of the game. Says David Lee, the Streamline’s new CHO, Hoop World animations and design are now quick, athletic and playable.
To give you a better idea: in the game, there are 12 players and as many as six players can pick them in offline and Xbox Live-enabled three-on-three games. There is a single player campaign, as well as the above mentioned online set of modes that include quick play and the equivalent of tournament mode. The settings look like basketball courts designed in the rain forest, and the gameplay itself is basketball-esque with unusual martial arts-style combat.
We can’t help thinking that Hoop World is kind of like Shaolin Soccer meets Endor. While the release dates are yet to be announced, here are the new screenshots of the game.
More of the screens await after the jump!
