Team Ninja executive director Tomonobu Itagaki, complete with his leather jacket and sunglasses, has revealed the Xbox 360 exclusive Ninja Gaiden 2 demo at the Microsoft keynote speech.. With the help of a translator, he took the crowd on a blow by blow account of the latest build of the upcoming game.
The demo shows Ryu Hayabusa in a dark city fighting some long-limbed purple demons. After promptly dispatching these creatures, he then takes on an upgraded version of the monster complete with armor and chainsaw arms. One demon scores a hit on Ryu prompting the ninja to cast some fire based spells which promptly toasts the demons.
After this, Ryu is shown wielding a long staff with spiked balls on either end. Ryu rips a demon in half causing fountains of blood to spew everywhere. He then makes his way to a save point on a path to a massive dark ziggurat.
Saving is handled much like Halo 3, with each save point allowing players save video clips of their kills and upload it onto leaderboards for others to watch.
Ryu then proceeds to slaughter some ninjas and winged demons with some fiery ninpos until he confronts a massive demon boss who shouts “Impudent monkeys, submit to the archfiend or die!” At this point, Ninja Gaiden 2 logo pops up on screen. As expected, the crowd goes wild with excitement.
Itagaki reiterates that Ninja Gaiden 2 is an Xbox 360 exclusive and will be shipping to North America this June 3 with other regions to follow later on in the month.
After all this, there’s only one thing we, here at QJ.NET have to say: sweet. Before you go, be sure to check out some pictures of the event!
