Gamespot managed to get a few words from some Ubisoft brass and talked about the growing film-game convergence. Among them was Yannis Mallat, CEO of Ubisoft Montreal, who reveals that the “long-term goal is to have movie and game people [at Ubisoft] talk to each other in real time. That’s happening already…and those filmmaking tools and processes will help us make better games.” He added that Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell are prospects for such projects.

An interesting thought. Games-turned movies aren’t known for their OMFGBBQFTW quality, and games spawned from movies are just as lackluster. But here we have Ubisoft wanting to work closely with movie producers and directors, share input, and come up with both great movies and games. While it’s true that there’s cynicism we have for the games-into-movies concept, it’s just because we want to see our favorite games play out well on the silver screen.
