GDC: Stage Debut gameplay vid that paved the road for Miis
Here’s another video from Shigeru Miyamoto‘s keynote at the GDC that gives us an insight on how the Mii avatars came to be what they are now. It’s a short gameplay video of a canned GameCube title called Stage Debut. Check it out below.
Stage Debut was supposed to be the next evolution of Talent Maker. It had a feature that allowed players to use a GBA to take pictures of themselves which would then be mapped on to character models. The title was originally presented using models of Shigeru Miyamoto and Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, as you can see from the vid above.
Yeah, it’s not news, but learning how things became what they are now is always pretty interesting. Except for some of the heavy sciences. Memorization sucks.
