As Xbox 360 gamers worldwide crank up for Gears of War 2, Microsoft and Epic Games have a couple of exclusive content lined up to make the release even more, well, epic.

When you buy yourself a copy of Gears of War 2, you automatically get the Flashback Map Pack for free (which means you better buy one for yourself instead of just renting or borrowing the game). The map pack includes five maps from the original game, updated for the graphics of GoW2: Canals, Gridlock, Mansion, Subway and Tyro Station.

Microsoft also gives another reason to buy yourself your own copy, offering a 48-hour Xbox Live Gold membership with the game.

Buying the game will get you the map pack, but you need to buy the game during the Midnight Mayhem event to get a token for an in-game gold-plated Hammerburst Assault Rifle for multiplayer gameplay. Midnight Mayhem starts November 7 at 12:01 AM, with 20,000 retail stores participating in the launch.

An in-game gold-plated version of the Lancer Assault Rifle will also be available with the game’s Limited Edition.
