Gears of War 2 Golden Lancer download code workaround

The bad news is that some gamers who bought the Gears of War 2 Limited Edition couldn’t get the Gold-Plated Lancer Assault Rifle download code to work. The good news? Epic Games has already gotten on the job and released a workaround. Check the full article for details.

Okay, so apparently, some gamers who bought the Gears of War 2 Limited Edition couldn’t get the Gold-Plated Lancer Assault Rifle download code to work. Well, Epic Games has already gotten on the job and released the following workaround:

• Launch the Xbox Dashboard
• Sign into your Profile
• Go to the Marketplace blade
• Select “Account Management”
• Select “Download History”
• Under the “Games” section, select “Gears of War 2 Gold-Plated Lancer Assault Rifle”
• When the blade appears, select “Download Again”
• Wait until the “download complete” confirmation toast appears

The process is a bit different for those who are already on the New Xbox Experience:

• Launch the Xbox 360 Dashboard
• Sign into a Profile
• Go to the My Xbox channel
• Select your profile (second selection) and press A
• Select “Account Management”
• Select “Download History”
• Under the “Games” section, select “Gears of War 2 Gold-Plated Lancer Assault Rifle”
• When the blade appears, select “Download Again”
• Wait until the “download complete” confirmation toast appears

If you’re still getting errors, wait a few minutes before you try again. Epic Games forum admin Flak also recommends deleting the original Golden Lancer download and THEN re-downloading it.  Says Flak, “As long as you entered the code and initiated the original download, deleting this won’t cause any re-download issues.”
