Cliff Bleszinski, during Comic Con, offered up some explanation as to where the movie now stands. If you’ll remember, problems started when Len Wiseman, the director originally tapped for the film, quit. Since then, the project has pretty much been in a state of limbo, waiting for someone to grab hold of the reigns once again. Now, given all of this, Cliff admits that they’re now looking over at the script once more, and considering starting from scratch.
The script isn’t the only concern, however. He also said that budget is a big issue, and ideally, he wants to bring it down to something more palatable for the studios. Originally, the budget set was at a whopping US$ 100 million”.
Bleszinski also went on to describe how he want the feel of the Gears of War movie to go, saying that he’d want it “more like District 9”, as opposed to the 2012-ish script that Wiseman was originally working on.
