Gears of War played on 20-meter high screen

GoW 20-metre

The immersive gameplay and astonishing graphics are probably what has made Epic GamesGears of War the most talked about game in the QJ offices since its release early this week. Those who don’t have it want it, those who do have it wished they played it more, and those who don’t have an Xbox 360…well, they lose out altogether.

But even if you’ve been playing GoW 24 hours a day since November 7, there’s still something which you haven’t tried that you’ll sure to be jealous of, and that’s playing Gears of War on a 20-metre high screen. Whilst it sounds like a thing of fantasy, it most certainly isn’t. Although the above screen doesn’t look that big, if you click the thumbnail and think about it in perspective you’ll soon realise its giant size.

One lucky reporter from Spong has achieved the goal of playing GoW on the 20-meter high screen at the London IMAX cinema in England. The giant cinema screen is powered by a 12,000 Lumens Projector, in what we can only assume to be a very loud 5.1 Dolby surround sound. An IMAX representative told Spong that the screen was the height of five double decker buses! The projectionist at the cinema said, “This is the first time we’ve ever hooked up an Xbox 360 to a cinema projector and the effect was insane … like a total cinema experience but also interactive.”

Hopefully, this would be the first of many similar instances. Imagine playing if the Matchbox360 GoW LAN was on that!
