Gears of War to party hard in a cemetery
The Hollywood Forever cemetery plays host to the afterlives of many famous celebrities, from renowned directors to the voice of Bugs Bunny. Hollywood Forever will be playing host to a different kind of celebration next week though, as Microsoft holds its launch party for Gears of War on cemetery grounds.
As part of their “Match Made in Hell” promotion for the game, the company will be holding the party on October 26 at 12:01 a.m. Microsoft has opted to play the idea up by hosting the event at the cemetery, with the Gears of War development team and big names in both the videogame and Hollywood scene expected to attend.
Strangely enough, Hollywood Forever has hosted this sort of thing before, though not with the software developer as a host. According to a spokesperson for the cemetery, “We get different offers to use different parts of our cemetery for different reasons, but I believe this is the first time that Microsoft has been here.”
Microsoft has really taken a lot of effort to fit this into their theme for the game, though you have to wonder if they’re overdoing it. The dual preview of the Gears of War trailer and “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” is one thing, but a cemetery is a whole different level. Let’s just hope Hollywood Forever doesn’t place them anywhere near the actual bulk of the cemetery for the sake of those who are already resting in peace, or there might be hell to pay.
