Get to know WoW guild Death and Taxes

Among the numerous guilds in Blizzard‘s World of Warcraft, one of the more familiar ones is Death and Taxes (DnT). The guild was formed during the WoW closed beta in 2004 and has since then garnered a reputation for killing the more advance in-game bosses. Unlike most guilds that are being run by GMs, DnT is controlled by five different officers.

According to Blackened, one of the officers, a typical DnT raid consists a lot of laughs, a lot of yelling, and a lot of profanity. The officer added that their nature is kind of abrasive so recruits have to be “thick-skinned.” Despite all of these, DnT kept on expanding through the years. Blackened explained,

I think that raiding can be enough to hold a guild together so long as the game that the guild is playing isn’t broken/tedious to the point where people quit or stop showing up. We’ve had some people quit in the past because the game just wasn’t fun for them anymore.

Like we mentioned, DnT doesn’t have a Guild Master and Blackened shared that they had some problems in the past because of this. There have been some instances where the guild was indecisive because there was no traditional leader to tip the balance in one direction or the other. On other guilds using this same structure, Blackened cautioned,

As for advice to people looking to incorporate this type of guild structure into their guild, don’t do it unless it’s done with a lot of people you trust. That’s one of the key reasons why we’ve been able to use this structure. Trust. We’ve all been playing together for over 2 years for the most part, some of us closer to 3.

Lastly, Blackened commented that most DnT players are looking forward to another MMO video game, Warhammer: The Age of Reckoning. He explains that this is due to the game’s deeper and more complex PvP features, much like Dark Age of Camelot’s RvR aspect.
