Global Debut for Aion: Tower of Eternity at E3 2006

If you are one of the lucky individuals who get to attend the Electronic Entertainment Expo next week, be sure and head over to Booth # 1046 in the South Hall.

NCSoft, one of the largest game developers on the planet, will be rolling out its latest offering, Aion: Tower of Eternity. Although the gaming world is buzzing about it, NCSoft is holding its cards close to the vest for this one. Entering the game title into most search engines bring up pages on Biblical topics and the “End Times,” but the NCSoft Website gives few clues about the game or its content.

Some information has come to light, however: the “Tower of Eternity” in the game symbolizes the “world of the heavens,” and is described as a literal “massive tower” located at the center of the continent. (For word buffs, Aion comes from the Greek, meaning “an age” or long period of time, and is usually spelled in English as “aeon” or “eon.”) We were also able to locate the screen shot at the left on a Japanese web site, which gives more tantalizing hints about this latest MMO game.

The game promises even more realistic cutting-edge graphics and interactive experiences. According to Ju-hyeong Jang, head of the Aion product development team in Seoul: “NCsoft believes online gaming to be the ‘next cinemaÂ’ in entertainment and Aion was created to tackle the next challenge for the MMOPRG: enhanced interaction.”
