Globe 360 modchip announced
This just in, Globe 360, a new modchip for the Xbox 360 is soon to be released. The modchip, according to a post made by Alcema, is said to be more than a dual dual-firmware mod. He says the Globe 360 modchip is plug and play and does not require extracting the drive-key from the console because the ACTEL CPLD bypasses the drive-key check. It retains all original firmware and there’s no need for any firmware-reading or flashing. With the Globe 360, Alcema says you can reprogram the on-board flash easliy with independent eprom programmer (e.g. Willem-prog) and replace it in the clean socket PLCC connector. The Globe 360 features:
- Plug&Play : No extraction of drive-key from the original firmware of drive on your console required, it will only install the chip and the “unsigned” firmware on-board will be boot.
- Electronic Switch ON/OFF: Power button enables or disables the chip when turn-on your Xbox 360 by power button.
- Firmware-drive Upgrade: Compatible with upgraded firmware for better performance of your DVD-drive to reading DVD-R DL support ( eg: Use on LG/Hitachi the Firmware v.059 instead of the v.047D or v.46D).
- Easy Reprogrammable Flash eprom: The on-board flash eprom is mounted on a socket connector.
- Compatible with all DVD-drive on the market.
- High reliability through ACTEL CPLD technology.
Again, these info came from Alcema. The official Globe 360 web page itself is still under construction (“Coming Soon”) so we can’t verify the validity of these features. Maybe Alcema has some backstage pass. We don’t know. But we’ll give you the official specs as soon as we get them.
