The Getaway, Eight Days cancelled - Image 1Sad news from the game development front today. Games Industry reports that the Sony London Studio has stopped work on two of its previously in-development titles: The Getaway 3 and Eight Days.

A statement from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe explains the reasons behind the cancellations:

It has been agreed that production of both Eight Days and The Getaway will cease immediately due to the redistribution of resources and budget.

This decision was made following an internal review of all games and it was deemed that with the incredibly strong list of exclusive first party titles coming up both this year and in the near future, resource should be reallocated to enhance those projects closer to completion.

It’s a shame that we won’t get to see those two games out in the market. By all accounts, it appeared as if Eight Days was nearing completion. The Getaway was a pretty good game back on the PlayStation 2, so a sequel would have been nice. In any case, it seems folks will have to go elsewhere for their action-adventure games.
