Gamer food, a topic that is normally summed up by pizza, chips, soda, ramen, and the occasional power drink. Many a non-gamer have asked why we limit themselves to such unhealthy, “instant” options. Well, we’re going to tell you now that this doesn’t have to be the case.

If you enjoy eating, but can’t bear to give up your precious gaming time we have a solution: Gourmet Gamer Food. The QJ.NET staff got together and came up with three snacks that should take the monotony out of the eating while gaming.

Omelette game food - Image 11. Omelette

4 Eggs
Milk (3 tablespoons)
Herbs (basil, tarragon, thyme, and chives make a good set)
Salt and Pepper
Filling of Choice (remember some ingredients such as mushrooms have to be pre-fried)
Butter (or frying oil of choice)

Beat the four eggs and milk in a bowl. Heat the oil in a nice round skillet. Once the pan is hot, fry the eggs in the pan, making sure not to mix it. Once the eggs have set, drop in the herbs and filling. Gently fold the omelette and flip it.

Put it on a platter and slice it into bite sized pieces. Stick a toothpick in each one and get on with the gaming.

Omelettes are a very versatile food. Preparing one isn’t too difficult and the variety of stuffing can range from last night’s leftovers to truffles. Even better is the fact that it can be cut up into tiny bite sized pieces that are perfect for those gaming sessions when you absolutely need to have both hands on the controller.

mushrooms gamer food - Image 1 2. Mushrooms ala Lyonnaise

Slices of Toast (cut into triangles)
2 tablespoons of reconstituted onions
One can of button mushrooms (450g)
Unsalted Butter (no substitutes)
Thyme
salt pepper

Melt the butter in a skillet. Once it is good and hot (not browned) drop in the herbs and fry for a few seconds. Place in the button mushrooms and fry until it is lightly browned. Season it with salt and pepper than spoon it unto the toast. Enjoy!

A fancy term for mushrooms with onions, preparing this is so much easier now with the introduction of dried herbs and onions. Perfect snack for LAN parties or even for lone wolves.

Spam gamer food - Image 13. Spam-wiches

1 can of SPAM
3 slices of tomatoes
Lettuce leaves
Mayonnaise
Mustard
Ketchup
Salt
Pepper
4 Slices of Bread
Butter

Open the Spam and cut it into six equal slices. Fry the Spam in the butter. After, fry the bread until golden brown and it absorbs the butter (add butter as necessary).

Place on slice of bread on a plate. Place two slices of Spam, some lettuce, and a slice of tomato. Place the second slice of bread. Repeat until you run out of bread slices.

Sometimes, the simplest food is the best. This sandwich should be relatively familiar to some of our readers as it is a common source of sustenance. Frying the bread in the butter gives it that special Deli feel that we love.

These are all tried and tested meals, food we here at QJ.NET prepare whenever we have long games to review or at times we’re too swamped with video games, work, and well, video games. Have fun!
