50 people hoping to bring home a PlayStation 3 are outside your store at the eve of the launch. You only have ten units with you. What do you do to make it a fair fight among all of them? Bring out chairs.Yep, veering away from the more simple and traditional method of drawing lots or holding a raffle, an assistant manager of Wal-Mart at West Bend decided to go for the more "exciting" musical chairs. The goal is simple. All the customers had to do was to elbow their way to get to the chairs at his signal. The ten people lucky enough to get out of the mob alive and into the chairs will be those who can purchase the console.
There weren't any music played, but if you'd consider the sound of bodies slamming against each other, or that of a head striking against a pole, or the sound of a stomping stampede as music, then yeah. We guess it may indeed be called a musical chairs game. But it wasn't as melodic as the assistant manager probably hoped it to be.
Reportedly, a 19-year old male injured himself after running straight into a pole. He was brought to a nearby hospital to be treated. One of the luckier customers hit his head on the chair and bruised his knee. Then again, he's probably saying a silent thanks to whoever shoved him in there, 'cause he was able to get a PS3.
