Gran Turismo 5 has apparently hit a speed bump on the way to the finish line. Sony recently announced that the game’s Japanese release date has been delayed.
According to a Reuters report, the delay stems from unspecified problems encountered during production. A new release date will reportedly be made public by Sony in the future. The long-awaited entry from Polyphony Digital was given a March 2010 release during last year’s Tokyo Game Show.
While it’s unknown how the Japanese delay will affect the game’s North American and European releases, SCEE has confirmed that PAL gamers will be unaffected.
“This information on the GT release is only applicable for the Japanese market,” the company told European gaming news site Eurogamer. “SCEE will announce the launch date for this game in the PAL territories in due course.”
