Gravity Interactive announces new mature-themed MMO
Gravity Interactive is going from the cutesy feel of Ragnarok Online and plunging straight into the deep, dark shadows with their newest offering, Requiem: Bloodymare. This new “mature-themed” MMORPG is currently set for an early 2008 release. You can get some first details about it in the full article.
An MMORPG set in a world where “the misuse of science and magic has warped the natural world into a twisted vision of death” – that’s what developer and publisher Gravity Interactive is bringing to the United States in the form of Requiem: Bloodymare.
The Havok engine-powered Requiem: Bloodymare lets players take on the role of the genetically and magically created Temperions. As Temperions, players must engage in bloody combat with the walking nightmares that ravage the world of Ethegia.
Aside from the whole horror feel – which is kind of reminiscent of both Hellgate: London and Clive Barker‘s Jericho (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC) – and the promise of stunningly gory visuals, Requiem: Bloodymare also brings a couple of interesting gameplay mechanics to the MMO genre, one of which is the importance of day and night. Under the game’s Nightmare System, powerful creatures rampage through Ethegia at night.
To combat them, players have the DNA System, which lets players use genetic engineering to modify their DNA to get otherwise unattainable characteristics and abilities, and the Beast Possession System, which enables players to possess and transform into different bestial beings with extraordinary abilities.
Gravity Interactive is currently shooting for an early 2008 release for Requiem: Bloodymare.
